METAMORPHOSES
Voracious velvet caterpillar
turning fat,
stiffens into a chrysalis
of Pharos’s gold
then when transformed and
knowing,
bursts out to dance in butterfly
sunshine
like twice-born human souls
who show us the way in rays
of joy,
and the wild Kurumba child
who laughs and runs behind
a bee*.
The mystery of transformation
calls for celebration---and
veneration:
One construct of DNA becoming
human,
to feel, witness, perhaps
to know;
the other double spiral galaxy
of incorporation
of no less significance in
the sacred whole,
the Dream of Earth, and echoes
of the universe,
all being and becoming in a dance of light.
When we remember and honour
our origins,
we dance again with butterflies,
enjoin the songs of stars
in rapture,
and hear the stories of the
stones
that ring so true in very
bone and soul:
Light-beings all, twice-born,
aware.
