On rare occasions (special
concert events), Ted Unseth would champion music quite different from the Classic Jazz Orchestra repertoire:
Jazz-Related Classical
Sometimes referred to as "Chance
Classical". Here are some of those rare moments:

01. "Song of India"
Rimsky-Korsakov via Paul Whiteman Orchestra 1920 via Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra Orchestra Hall;
Minneapolis, MN 1976

02. "Ragtime For 11 Instruments"

"Chance Classical" defined:
"Derivations".
I'd given the Solo Clarinet part to my regular Clarinetist, but it was too demanding so I asked him to give it to our Special
Guest for this concert, Bob Crea, local Tenor Sax legend. When we got to rehearsal, I asked Bob about the part and he
said he never got it. The concert is two days away! Panic! I'd enlisted former founding member Mark Bryn
to conduct this piece and he said: "I'll play it on my synthesizer." He memorized it and played while conducting.
There were many mis-cues, etc. The Drummer got lost at one point and just banged
away ad lib. This was
Chance Classical = Seat-of-the-pants performance hoping we all ended at the same time; which we did!
